In the heart of Valpolicella, there’s a charming little village perched on a hill, offering beautiful views over Verona and Lake Garda. It’s the perfect place to start or end a wonderful tour of Valpolicella.
You’ll also find a lovely little bar there, where we recommend stopping for a drink or a bite to eat!
Did you know that there are wineries around here that look like they’ve come straight out of a story?
If you love wine, but also beautiful stories, special places and experiences a little out of the ordinary, we have a few suggestions for you.
Because Valpolicella is not just about wine. It’s about hills, families, traditions, historic wineries and little corners waiting to be discovered.
Let’s start with Villa Crine, where tradition and innovation come together in a truly special way. You’ll also find a little piece of history here: World War II artefacts and a fascinating tunnel carved into the tuff stone. An experience that goes beyond wine tasting and tells the story of the area through both wine and history. Giuseppe, a great friend of Marta, and his family will make you feel at home while introducing you to the world of good wine!
Then we move to Marano di Valpolicella, where we recommend a visit to Albino Armani. A truly unique cellar, where music accompanies the experience, creating a relaxing atmosphere and allowing you to fully enjoy the wine. 🎶🍷
If you’re looking for something elegant and refined, make a note of Rubinelli Vajol. We love the care and attention you can feel as soon as you step into the winery, combined with a touch of modernity.
And then there’s Masi.
The word that comes to mind is: grandeur.
An important winery, exceptional wines and a history rooted in Valpolicella for generations. If you’re looking for a special tasting experience, this is certainly one to keep in mind. Their new Monteleone 21 estate is just as impressive as their wines.
For something more intimate and authentic, we recommend Le Salette. A winery worth discovering at a slower pace, perhaps while listening to the story of the family and its wines. And the quality-to-price ratio is particularly interesting.
And then we come to a name that needs little introduction: Quintarelli.
Unique, inimitable, a true little legend of Valpolicella. Here, wine means culture, patience and tradition. A place to discover if you’re curious to understand what it really means to preserve a winemaking tradition passed down through generations.
But that’s not all!
There are also Montesantoccio and Paolo Cottini, two wineries we recommend adding to your list if you want to discover perhaps lesser-known places that beautifully express the character of the area.
So, if you come to Relais Rossar and ask us:
“Where can we go for a good glass of Valpolicella?”
We’ll probably answer:
“It depends… how much time do you have?” 😄
Because there are so many wineries around here, and each one has a different story to tell.
Our advice? Choose one, make yourself comfortable, let them tell you about the wine and, above all… don’t rush.
